iSAMN2019 Gathered over 90 Participants Together with Local and International Experts

PUTRAJAYA, August 19 – International Symposium on Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology 2019 (iSAMN2019), which was jointly organized by the Institute of Advanced Technology (ITMA) and The Malaysian Solid State Science and Technology Society (MASS), had successfully gathered over 90 participants together with local and international experts to share knowledge and results of their latest research.

With the theme “Achieving Sustainability through Innovative Nanotechnology Advancements”, the two-day symposium took place at the Putrajaya Marriott Hotel and officiated by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research & Innovation), Prof. Dr. Zulkifli Idrus.

Plenary speeches of the symposium were presented by Prof. Dr. Wenjing Hong (Xiamen University, China) and Prof. Dr. Shuzi Hayase (Kyushu Institute of Technology, Japan). Meanwhile the keynote sessions were presented by Prof. Huang Nay Ming (Xiamen University Malaysia), Prof. Sanjib Bhakta (Birkbeck University of London), Prof. Dr. S. Abraham John (Gandhigram Rural Institute-Deemed to be University, India), Assoc. Prof. Ng Yun Hau (City University of Hong Kong), Dr. Idris Abu Seman (Malaysian Palm Oil Board) and Assistant Professor Dr. Gyorgy Szekely (King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Saudi Arabia & University of Manchester, UK).

 


Besides oral presentation session, iSAMN2019 introduced Materials Technology Challenge Version 2.0. (MTC 2.0) to poster presenters. In MTC 2.0, the participants had to present their research works creatively in the form of a poster to a panel of eminent judges. Three gold medals were awarded to the best three poster presenters. Best Micrograph Award Competition was also conducted during the symposium. Some lucky participants went home with attractive prizes from the lucky draws during the closing ceremony.

During the closing speech, the iSAMN2019 Chairman, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Janet Lim Hong Ngee expressed hope that the participants had a beneficial meeting and established their networking with one another for future collaboration towards finding solutions whilst designing effective strategies for research development in the field of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology. She also hoped that the current collaboration and support from all parties will continue for the future events.

All the presented papers in this symposium will be peer-reviewed for publication in the “iSAMN2019 Special Issue” of the International Journal of Nanotechnology Inderscience Publishers, and the Journal of Solid State Science and Technology.
